You’re no doubt familiar with Google Earth, which is a lot of fun to play around with when you have time to spare – African deserts, Egyptian pyramids and Himalayan mountains, the whole world at your fingertips! But you may not be aware that there is a premium version available, called Google Earth Pro, and now you can get it for free.
The Pro version has been around for about ten years, and was previously available for a whopping $399. It has been used mostly by scientists, engineers, architects, pilots, hikers and various businesses.
It has some interesting features, some of which are highly technical and not likely to be used by the average person. But if you’d like to try your hand at recording HD movies of your virtual flight around the globe, now’s your chance.
Other features of Google Earth Pro include tools to measure 3D buildings, the option to print high-resolution images, and a map-making tool. You are also able to locate geographic information system images automatically instead of manually. And another fascinating feature: you can access demographic information such as age, gender, education and income for specific areas.
In order to access the app, you need to obtain a free key. The URL states that it is a trial, but it is actually free and without limitations. If you are already a Pro user there won’t be any changes, except that you’ll be saving the cost of the fees from now on.
There are just a few system requirements before you download the app. You need a PC that runs on Windows XP or higher, or OS 10.6 or higher for Mac users. You also need at least 500MB of storage and 512MB of RAM.
Apply to download Google Earth Pro here and just think – you don’t even have to pack – off you go on your trip around the world!
